Stay Away From Jealousy

“And the woman answered one another as they played and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.

“And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, they have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands; and what can he have more but the kingdom?” (1 Samuel 18 v 7-8)

Saul’s appreciation for David turned to jealousy as the Israelites began to applaud David’s exploits. In a jealous rage, Saul committed an evil act, by throwing a spear at David. Jealousy may not seem to be a major sin, but it can easily and quickly escalate. It normally begins by destroying a person on the inside, then, it manifests itself in harmful actions. Beware of allowing jealousy to get a foothold in your life.
