‘A Prophet Like Me’

“The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like one from your midst, from your brethren, Him you shall hear.” (Deuteronomy 18 v 15)

“I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and I will put my words in his mouth and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.” (Deuteronomy 18 v 18)

”And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him.” (Deuteronomy 18 v 19)

“Repent therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord. And that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before. Whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began. For Moses truly said to the fathers, the Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people. Yes and all the prophets from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days. You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed. To you first, God, having raised up His servant, Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.” (Acts 3 v 19-26)

“This is that Moses, who said to the children of Israel, The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren, Him you shall hear.” (Acts 7 v 37)

God promised Abraham that He would bless the world through his descendants, the Jewish race (Genesis 12 v 3), from which the Messiah would come. God intended the Jewish nation to be a separate and holy nation that would teach the world about God, introduce the Messiah, and then carry on His work in the world.

The giving of the commandments, Law and statutes through Moses to Israel was the sign of the covenant. By obedience, then, would they continue to be God’s covenant people. However because they disobeyed, they broke the covenant. After the days of King Solomon, the nation lost its privilege position and many years later rejected the Messiah. They did not recognise nor accept ‘THE PROPHET’

THE QUESTION EACH ONE OF MUST ASK OURSELF IS, DO  WE RECOGNISE GOD’s PROPHET TODAY?
