This book was written by Malachi the prophet about 430 BC, forming a bridge between the Old Testament and the New Testament. Its purpose was to confront the children of Israel with their sins and to restore their relationship with God.
Malachi rebuked the people and the priests for neglecting the worship of God and failing to live according to God’s Word. If the priests were unfaithful, how could they lead the people? They had become stumbling blocks instead of Spiritual leaders.
Malachi reminded God’s chosen nation of their wilful disobedience and how pride had hardened their hearts. However, the good news for every person is that your relationship with God can be restored. All hope is not lost. God can heal, mend and reweave the fabric. Forgiveness is available. That is Grace.
